If you talk to God you probably view yourself as a good christion,if God talks to you,you are probably of need of professional help of some kind.

Almost right bumas but the last part should be: if God talks to you, then you really are a christian and need no help.

Re: The Bible has God preserve it?

I know that most true believers will agree that God has preserve His Word in Heaven (Psalms 119:89). But what good would that do us believers here in our earthly tabernacles. I guess you could say what I'm trying to say is if God didn't preserve His Word 100%for us here on earth how can we truly understand Him.

Case and point most modern version leave out most of I John 5:7. Saying that most of this verse wasn't in the orginal Greek.

I believe that this entire verse as stated from the KJV is Scripture "For there are three that bare record in heaven, the Father the Word and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." I John 5:7

I believe I John 5:6 and 8 refer to the death of Jesus which is the witness of man. ( I John 5:9 ) For didn't John give this record in John 19:30-37 for first we read "and gave up the ghost" (John 19:30) ghost of course could be spirit, in verses 34-35 of John 19 we hear about the water and the blood.

While unforunately many believers don't believe the witness of God refer to in I John 5:7,9. "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness." (John 3:11) See also John 3:32-33. The Baptism of Jesus deals with all Three members of the Godhead being reveal (Matthew 3:16-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22) In the Baptism of Jesus we see the Holy Ghost descending from heaven like a dove, the voice of the Father coming from heaven calling Jesus His Beloved Son. Plus what did John the Baptist say of this event as record by the Apostle John, "(31) And I knew Him not: but that He should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. (32) And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him. (33) And I knew Him not: but He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him the same is He which baptizedth with the Holy Ghost. (34) AND I SAW, AND BARE RECORD THAT THIS IS THE SON OF GOD." John 1:31-34
This is only one of many verses that we see being question by many true believers.

I have heard the statement that not one major doctrine is effected by any of these small disagreement. But what about God promises. Jesus say, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 22:33).

So this is what I mean when I say has God preserved His Word?

This is a semi-true statement (from their side not from yours). The verse is not found in the Alexandrian text which those who make this claim count as the "original Greek." In this point they would be considered correct but the text is at the very least alluded to by Cyprian (d.258) in the Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. 5, Treatise 1, paragraph 6 but it is not written in Greek but in Latin. By Cyprian's own hand we know he was taught by Cæcilius which takes us all the way back to the founding of the church in Carthage (160 AD). As you know, 1 John was written to the churches in Asia Minor but Carthage is in Northern Africa. IMHO the time difference and geographical separation make it at least plausible that 1 John 5:7 was in a early Latin translation and conceivably in a early Greek version of the letter written prior to 100AD neither of which has survived to the present day. I think it is therefore proper that the verse be included but feel it should have parentheses or brackets surrounding the text to show that we have no existing verification that the words were in the original composition written by John.
