Judges 6:39-40

Judges 6:39-40
KJV 39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. 40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

Easy English Bible Judges 6:39-40
v39 Then Gideon said to God, ‘Do not be angry with me. I want to ask just one more thing. Let me try with the wool once again. This time, make the wool dry and cover the ground with *dew.’ v40 So God did that. That night, the wool was dry and *dew covered all the ground.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

39 Gideon was testing God. God had reason at this point to be angry because Gideon tests God after He already called and spoke to Him. We should test God by the word because that is how we discern whether it is truly Him or not but Gideon was sinning by asking God to do this. Dew on the ground would have been common but for something laid out to be dry wouldn’t have been common.
40 God did it, He didn’t have to. He could have seen what Gideon was doing an moved to choose someone else. Thankfully He shows us mercy and puts up with us asking for Him to keep our fleece dry.
