The Miss California controversy
Here is an interesting article questioning whether Miss California, a Christian who stood up for her beliefs regarding same-sex marriage, should have even entered the competition in the first place.

I can really see the point here. I have imagined how interesting it might be to participate in a show like Survivor, but every so often, the contestants will participate in one of the native country's religious practices as part of a challenge or reward, and I don't think I could do that. Wearing a bikini is not the same as participating in a religious practice, but both could involve going against one's conscience to be part of a show.

Re: The Miss California controversy
I to can understand this point, but have come to believe that Carrie Prejean (Miss California), could be in a similar situation as Queen Esther and King David.
Anybody can see that King David was accused by his wife Michal, of uncovering "himself in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!" II Samuel 6:20-21. She could have however unlikely, been doing something like this.
It is also possible that God put her in this place "for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14. Let us not forget Esther was involved in a beauty contest (Esther 2:1-23).
IMPO, "God is not ashamed to be called" her "God" (Hebrews 11:16)

Greetings from Jason's brother Bookworm.
Hi. Welcome to the forum.
I responded to some of your posts in other threads without realizing that you were you. Have you also looked at the Harmony forum? There are more people posting over there than over here, but I've been trying to be active at both. You don't have to reregister for the other runboard forums. Once you have the account, you can post at any of them.

aboard Logos57!
I am certain you are correct on the stand Miss California took. The main difference between the beauty contest of Queen Esther and the beauty contest of Miss California to me is that Esther was told the rules and the rules never changed while with Miss California the rules were very literally changed in the middle of the contest and then again after the contest! Makes you wonder why the other contestants didn't speak up...
